Senegal has just approved a new law against rape and paedophilia. The debate surrounding rape become a matter of widespread public interest after a series of attacks conducting to rape and murder have shocked the country, the most infamously notorious being the murder of Bineta Camara in June 2019. Passing the law on the criminalisation of crimes of rape and paedophilia was the culmination of a long standing contestation and work from many people and associations, where the newly formed collective #Dafadoy (It’s enough!) and AJS (Association des Juristes Sénégalaises) stand as representing the renewed claim to changing the legislation.
